Support Our Families

Your financial contributions, in-kind donations, and the “priceless” gift of your time provide equally valuable support for RaiseUp Families clients. With your help, we can strengthen struggling families who may be facing the possibility of homelessness, to ensure an uninterrupted school year for their children. Together, we can make a difference!  For additional information on ways to help or to make an in-kind donation, please contact Koralee Boucher, Community Engagement Manager, at 713-973-8083, ext. 105.

Financial Contributions

Every $1 invested in RaiseUp Families programming generates an estimated $20 in long-term value to participating families and the community through improved earnings and reduced dependence on safety-net services. RaiseUp Families is a 501(c)(3) organization.  All donations are tax deductible.

How your donation helps:
$8,500 covers all expenses for one family to complete our signature 9-Month HandUp Program
$5,000 subsidizes rent throughout our entire program for one family as they work towards self-sufficiency
$1,200 provides one month’s rent, utilities, and continuing education courses to help parents increase their earning potential
$500 gives 2 families safe after-school care for their children while parents are working
$250 purchases a mattress and bedframe for a child sleeping on the floor or sofa
$100 helps 1 adult secure transportation to get to and from work
$50 offers a parent a 30-minute counseling session with a licensed clinician
$25 ensures internet service for families (via a school discount rate)

Volunteer Opportunities

Join the RaiseUp Families Volunteer Team! We work diligently to match your interests and availability with our volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to provide a positive, meaningful experience for both volunteers and families. Opportunities for volunteer involvement include:

Client Education and Encouragement

Organize a Client Workshop and/or Family event –  Present a topic that would benefit our clients, such as household budgeting, job retention, parenting, family communication, or healthy living.

Provide Pro Bono Professional Services – Legal, Financial/Accounting, Human Resources, Medical.

Office and Program Support

Pre-Screen Client Support and Resource Referrals – Respond to families who have reached out for help but do not qualify for our program.  Provide them with other resources in the community that may be able to assist them

Client Follow-up  Make follow-up calls to clients six months after they complete the HandUp Housing Program. (Spanish language skills are helpful but not necessary.)

Monthly Check Deliveries – Deliver checks to apartment management offices and childcare facilities at the beginning of each month.

Special Projects  Assist Case Managers with transportation/errands, client job training, preparedness support, and additional client needs as they arise.

Special Events

From time to time, volunteers are needed to organize or assist with seasonal events that educate and celebrate our client families. Responsibilities range from providing a simple meal before the start of a class, to planning activities for children.
