Support Our Families
Your financial contributions, in-kind donations, and the “priceless” gift of your time provide equally valuable support for RaiseUp Families clients. With your help, we can strengthen struggling families who may be facing the possibility of homelessness, to ensure an uninterrupted school year for their children. Together, we can make a difference! To volunteer or make an in-kind donation, please contact Christina Yaya, Community Engagement Manager, at 713-973-8083, ext. 105.
Join the RaiseUp Families Volunteer Team! We work diligently to match your interests and availability with our volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to provide a positive, meaningful experience for both volunteers and families. Opportunities for volunteer involvement include:
Client Education and Encouragement
Organize a Client Workshop and/or Family event – Present a topic that would benefit our clients, such as household budgeting, job retention, parenting, family communication, or healthy living.
Provide Pro Bono Professional Services – Legal, Financial/Accounting, Human Resources, Medical.
Office and Program Support
Client Follow-up – Make follow-up calls to clients six months after they complete the Hand Up Housing Program. (Spanish language skills are helpful but not necessary.)
Monthly Check Deliveries – Deliver checks to apartment management offices and childcare facilities at the beginning of each month.
Special Projects – Assist case managers with transportation/errands, client job training, preparedness support, and additional client needs as they arise.
From time to time, volunteers are needed to organize or assist with seasonal events that educate and celebrate our client families. Responsibilities range from providing a simple meal before the start of a class, to planning activities for children.
Every $1 invested in RaiseUp Families programming generates an estimated $20 in long-term value to participating families and the community through improved earnings and reduced dependence on safety-net services. RaiseUp Families is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible.
How your donation helps:
$5,000 provides three months of subsidized rent for three families
$1,200 provides one month’s rent, utilities, apartment application fees, and a bed for each child of families entering the program
$500 provides continuing education courses through ESL, HCC and job-training classes for three parents to support increased earning potential
$250 provides safe, after-school care for one child while a parent is working
$100 provides transportation for one adult to and from work for three months
$50 provides one counseling session for three families, an essential component to healing families who have experienced the trauma of homelessness
RaiseUp Families is often in need of specific in-kind donations or collections for client families. While we accept most appropriate donations, we have limited storage facilities and ask that you contact us to coordinate all donations.
